Care & Maintenance
At VARBROS, we craft our products from natural solid oak — a timeless material that brings warmth, strength, and character to every space. With the right care, your piece will age gracefully and serve you for decades.
Let Your Furniture Acclimate
When your product first arrives, place it in its final location and allow it to adjust for about 10 days before:
direct sunlight or heaters
This helps the oak adapt to its new environment and avoid stress from sudden changes in humidity or temperature.
Core Principles of Oak Care
1. Clean Spills Immediately
Even water can leave marks if left too long.
Wipe up any liquid right away using a soft cloth.
Our finishes meet DIN 68861-1C standards for chemical and stain resistance, but prompt action keeps the surface pristine.
2. Protect Surfaces
Use coasters, trays, and placemats for anything hot, wet, or sharp.
Avoid placing heated appliances or wet objects directly on the surface.
3. Gentle, Regular Cleaning
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth
- For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth — not wet
- Avoid harsh chemicals, sprays, and abrasives
- Never use microfiber with rough textures
4. Maintain Stable Humidity
Solid oak responds to its environment.
We recommend keeping your space at 40–60% humidity to prevent cracking or warping.
In dry climates or winter, consider using a humidifier.
5. Refreshing the Finish (Optional)
Over time, you can restore the look by applying a thin layer of natural oil-wax (based on linseed or sunflower oil).
Always test in an inconspicuous spot first — especially on colored or treated surfaces.
6. Embrace Natural Beauty
Each piece of oak is unique. Grain patterns, natural inclusions, and slight variations in tone are not defects — they are part of the character and authenticity of real wood.
Over time, your piece may develop a rich patina, adding to its charm.
